C.J. Hove, a resident of Hawarden for 15 years, died unexpectedly at his home Saturday afternoon following a heart attack. Mr. Hove had been suffering from heart trouble and had been unable to work about a month prior to his death. He was a patient in the Hawarden Hospital about two weeks but as he seemed to be improving, he was permitted to go home Saturday noon. Later, while at the dinner table, he suffered a heart attack which proved fatal.

Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran Church at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon with Reverend C.A. Burkhart in charge. Interment was in Grace Hill Cemetery.

Conrad J. Hove, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hove, was born in Lincoln County, South Dakota, August 2, 1890, and he grew to manhood on a farm near Canton. He was united in marriage with Miss Ella B. Olson of Brampton, North Dakota, March 6, 1913 and they lived at Brampton until 1917, when they moved to Canton. In 1930, he came to Hawarden to make his home.

He was the father of eight children, one of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and seven children, Thomas of Campbell, Minnesota; Oris of Beresford, South Dakota; and James Harlan, Betty, Junior and Dorothy of Hawarden. One son, Harris, was killed in Germany last March 20 in the service of his country.

Mr. Hove is also survived by one brother, John, of Brampton, North Dakota; two sisters, Mrs. Olaus of Centerville, South Dakota and Mrs. Ida Highland of Mission Hill, South Dakota, and two grandchildren, Otis Wayne and Harlan Milo Hove. Mr. Hove was the youngest of a large family. His parents, two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Hove was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Moe, South Dakota. For the past four years, he was employed in the street department of Hawarden.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hove and son of Campbell, Minnesota, Mr. and Mrs. Oris Hove and son of Beresford, John Hove and Wilda Hottle of Brampton, North Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Olaus Olson and Cass, Ethel, Ruth and Glenn Olson, Herman, Gladys and Mildred Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Cryder Larson of Centerville, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Art Odegard of Wayne, Nebraska, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Hult of Vermillion, South Dakota, and a number from the Hudson vicinity.
