MARLIN G. WIELENGA, 67, of Orange City, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 8, 2017 at his home in Orange City.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 12th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Hospice Chaplain Mary Block of Orange City, Iowa will officiate.. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Aurelia, Iowa. There will be a family prayer service at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 11th, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa with the family being present from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Online condolences can be left at www.boothbyfuneral.com
Marlin was born on November 25, 1949 in Orange City, Iowa. He was the son of Edward and Wilmina (Wynia) Wielenga. He was raised in rural Orange City and attended the Orange City Christian Schoool. Marlin graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa in 1968.
He was married on August, 24, 1968 to Janice Verrips of Sioux Center. To this union they had four daughters. They were later divorced. Marlin was then married to Jodi (Jenness) Woods of Cherokee, Iowa on October 8, 2004. They resided in Alton, Iowa and moved to Orange City in 2014.
Marlin made his living doing construction. He built homes and did home remodeling in the Orange City and LeMars areas for many years before retiring in 2015. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, camping, fishing, gardening and working in his yard. Marlin enjoyed helping others if they needed anything. He would always be there for a helping hand.
Marlin was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Jodi, of Orange City, Iowa, two brothers, Carl Wielenga of Santa Barbara, California; Roger (Lisa) Wielenga of Globe, Arizona; one sister, Elaine (Ben) Van Engen of Orange City, Iowa; four daughters, Kim (Kirk) Holzman of LeMars, Iowa, Sherry (Dan) Nacke of Remsen, Iowa, Amy (Rick) Hicks of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, and Krista Gramlow of LeMars, Iowa. He was loved by 10 grandchildren, Tyler and Josie Holzman, Jasmine Nacke, Kyle (Cayen) Wielenga, Cory and Kaylee Hicks, Mikayla (Brady Westhoff) and Haley Bebout, Jaiden and Dawsen Gramlow and 1 great grandson Landon Westhoff; four step-children, Jeremy (Melissa) Jensen of Remsen, Iowa, Jacob (Jenny) Jensen of Sioux Center, Iowa, Jessica Nipp of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Katelyn Woods (Wayne Thompson) of Primghar, Iowa, 12 step-grandchildren, and one step-great grandson.
