Rock Valley, IA: Lillian Draayer, 85, of Rock Valley died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Whispering Heights in Rock Valley. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 15 at 10:30 AM at First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley with Rev. Matthew Haan officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be Wednesday, June 14 from 6:00-7:30 PM at First CRC. Memorials may be given to Hope Haven.
 
Lillian Draayer was born May 17, 1932, in Rock Valley, Iowa, daughter of Abraham and Gertrude (Dokter) Van Driel. On January 30, 1952, she married Edwin Draayer. The couple made their home in Rock Valley. To this union one child was born, Deb. They enjoyed 34 years together until Ed’s death on August 20, 1986.
 
As a child Lillian worked with her parents in the City Café in Rock Valley. She worked at Valley State Bank (US Bank) in Rock Valley for 40 years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, faithfully encouraging and praying for family members and others. Her greatest joy was spending time with family. Lillian loved going on trips with her husband, going to ball games, playing piano, playing cards with her friends, and volunteering her time to make quilts for Hope Haven. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley and Ruth Circle.
 
Lillian is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Carroll De Nooy of Sioux Center; two grandchildren, Loren (Tara) De Nooy of Sioux Center and Rindy (Doug) Veldhuisen of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; two great-grandchildren, Savanna and Wade De Nooy; brother, Peter J. (Viola) Van Driel of Rock Valley; and sister, Adrianna Dykstra of Rock Valley.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham and Gertrude; husband, Ed; and grandson, Eric De Nooy.
