Mr. Henry Hotz was born on July 19, 1874 in Hessen, Germany. When but a small lad he came to this country, first to Wisconsin in 1883 and later to Wayne, Nebraska.

He came to Perkins, Iowa, with his mother and step-father in 1890, and worked as a farm hand for residents near that place. He made his home in Perkins for the rest of his life, working for the Milwaukee Road and the Great Northern Railway as a bridge worker until 1906 when he became the rural mail carrier on the route out of Perkins. This last position he retained until 1939 when he retired on a pension.

Henry Hotz, age 71, passed away August 6th in a Nursing Home at Hawarden, Iowa. He leaves to mourn his passing his sister, Mrs. John Witte and family. His step-father preceded him in death as well as his mother in 1922.

Funeral services were hold last Thursday afternoon at the home in Perkins and at the American Reformed Church in Hull. Reverend Noel P. Orcutt, pastor of the Congregational Church of Hawarden officiated. Glaerhout and Van Etten were the mortician.

Pall bearers were William Dykstra, Ed Dykstra, Albert De Jager, Martin Prins, Bert Bonestroo and Herman Vande Weerd.
