Ed Finnie Of Alcester Dies
Funeral services for Ed Finnie, 75, of Alcester, who died last Thursday in a Sioux Falls hospital, were held at 2 o'clock Monday in the Congregational church at Alcester with Rev. Hugh E. Gackle officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill cemetery at Hawarden under the direction of the Nilson Funeral home of Alcester.

Mr. Finnie suffered a heart attack Sunday, November 5, at his home and was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital. He was -born on the Finnie farm north of Hawarden October 7, 1881, and spent most of his life in the Hawarden and Alcester vicinities.

He married Lona Mae Cottingham of Mount Vernon, S. D., in March of 1907. A few years after the marriage Mr. and Mrs. Finnie took, a claim near Lemonont, S. D. Later he purchased a farm near Alcester where he lived until he retired a number of years ago.

Mr. Finnie took an active part In church and civic work and served as commissioner of Union county 12 years. Besides the widow survivors include two sons, Claire of Alcester and Earl in the American embassy at Nicaragua, Central America; two brothers, William of Waverly, Minn., and Robert of Cheyenne, Wyo., and three grandchildren.
