Weir, Ann born 17 Mar 1830 died 31 Mar 1903 buried in St. Joseph’s cemetery Hull IA.

Hull Index April 3, 1903

Mrs. James Weir, mother of E. C. Weir, of bur town, and who is well known to the residents of the neighborhood, northeast of Hull, died on Tuesday at her home six miles northeast of town.

Mrs. Weir (Gallagher) was born in Ireland on March 17, 1829. In 1851 she came to America, locating in Syracuse, N. Y, where the year following in March she was married to James Weir. In 1860 the family removed to Fillmore County, Minn., and in 1887 removed to Sioux county locating on the farm northeast of town where she lived until her death. To Mr. and Mrs. Weir twelve children were born, eight sons and four daughters. Seven are still living all of whom were present at their mother’s bedside.

Mrs. Weir left a large number of friends as was evidenced by the number who attended the funeral which took place yesterday from the Catholic church, Rev. J. Phelan officiating. The children were called upon to mourn the death of their father three years ago and now their best friend, their mother, left their children to mourn her departure. The sympathy of friends and family extended the children, all of whom have reached manhood and womanhood.

The children mentioned in the 1925 Iowa census were Evangeline, Mary, Loretta, and Ed. C.
