John Cornelius Hoekstra, 77, died Sunday morning, July 19, in a local hospital.

John Hoekstra was born August 29, 1864 at Berlikum, The Netherlands. In 1903 he was united in marriage to Neeltje De Jong, and the following 2 children were born to them: Martha, Mrs. Bert Gesink and Cornie.

In 1906 they came to America to settled on a farm southwest of Orange City. Mr. and Mrs. Hoekstra moved to Orange City about 6 years ago. Mrs. Hoekstra died in 1941.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the home with Reverend Schuurman in charge and at 1:30 o’clock in the First Christian Reformed Church in charge of Reverend Mr. R. Bronkema.

Burial took place at the local cemetery.
