Dick Wissink, 89, passed away on May 6, 2-17 at the Valley View Village, Des Moines, where he had resided the past few months. His funeral will be at 10:30 M. M, Thursday, at Merle Hay Funeral Home, Des Moines. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home .

Dick Wissink, the son of Herman and Dina (Bos) Wissink, was born July 6, 1927 (a few miles north of Carmel) Rock Valley Iowa. Following high school, he graduated from Central College and served in the U. S. Navy. Dick owned a successful insurance agency, Independent Insurance Associates.

He was an active member at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He helped organize a Bible study at the Lodge of Ashworth. After retiring, Dick enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends. He also enjoyed gardening and feeding his backyard birds. Dick was a fan of the Chicago Cubs.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Marguerite Wissink, and wife, Jane.

Dick is remembered by his children, Julie Scott (Brian) and Kevin Wissink (Catherine Foley-Wissink); grandsons: Brandon (Amie) Pruitt, Blake Pruitt, Brandon Scott, and Alec Scott; great granddaughter, Finley and brother Gerald Wissink (Nelvina).

Casket Bearers were: Kevin Wissink, Brandon Pruitt, Dirk Roghair, Brian Scott, Blake Pruitt and Ray Fraaken. Interment was in Chapel Hill Gardens Cemetery Des Moines IA.
