Died: January 24, 1931

Peter Hinrich Hinsch was born on the 25th day of July, 1856, near Cadenberge, Hannover.

When 15 years old he came to America and for three years was employed by a tinner in Pittsburgh. In 1874 he came to Doon, Iowa. Here he sought and found work as a farmhand.

In 1881 he was united in marriage to Miss Catherine Sohl and the young couple moved onto the homestead which Mr. Hinsch had secured at that time. Here they lived and worked for 34 years. In 1915 Mr. and Mrs. Hinsch retired from active life and moved to George where in 1923 Mrs. Hinsch was called away from her husband by death. Since that time Mr. Hinsch had made his home with his son Henry on the old homestead nine miles northeast of Hull.

Since the demise of his life companion, Mr. Hinsch’s health seemed to fall fast. Last Thursday he became seriously ill. His physician could not extent any hope for recovery, nor was it the desire of the aged patient to return to earthly life. Fervently he prayed that the Lord might take him home and his petition was granted.

He died on the 24th of January, his age being 74 years, six months and six days. He leaves two children: Mrs. Anna Sohl, Davenport, Iowa, and Henry, who lives on the homestead. He also leaves two grandchildren and two brothers.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and interment made in the cemetery near the church.
