Sioux County Index of May 14, 1953

The life of Mr. Clarence Wolfswinkel was snuffed out instantly Sunday evening when a train, collided with his car at Mesa, Arizona Funeral services were scheduled to be held there on Wednesday. The remains will be shipped to Hull arriving here Saturday. Services will be held in the local First Reformed Church on Monday at 1:30 p.m. The car in which Mr. Wolfswinkel was traveling alone was damaged very extensively when hit by the train. The passengers in the car following the Wolfswinkel car reported that the whistle had not been blown when the train approached the crossing. When the accident occurred , they immediately went to the wrecked car, checking Mr. Wolfswinkel’s pulse but he had already died. Injuries seemed to be mostly in the chest.

Mr. Wolfswinkel and family were former residents of Hull leaving here about five years ago. He had reached the age of 46 years. Survivors are his wife, the former Hattie De Jongh; four sons, Clifford and Calvin, both in the army on Stateside duty, and two small boys at home. His parents Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wolfswinkel of Fergus MN, seven brothers, Pete, Ben, John, Joe, James, Henry, Elmer, four sisters, Grace, Mrs. Ed Schuurman of Inwood, Jennie Mrs. Ralph H. Brunsting of Boyden, Albertha, Mrs. Glen Stone of North Dakota and Nellie Mrs. Harold Bullock of California. 2 sisters Margaret and Janice precede him in death.
