DEATH OF MRS. L. C. VAN DUYN

After an illness of about two weeks with pneumonia, Mrs. L. C. Van Duyn passed away at her home south of Rock Valley, early Friday morning, March 9.

The subject of this sketch was born in Holland, August 19, 1885, and had attained the age of 37 years six months and 20 days. She came to this country with her parents when she was about six years old. The family settled in Alton, where they lived a few years and after that resided at different times at Doon, Rock Valley and at Hull. She was united in marriage in December 1903, to L. C. Van Duyn, and shortly after this they moved onto the farm south of Rock Valley where they have since resided.

Five children, four boys and one girl, came to bless this home, the oldest now 18 years, and the youngest a babe of three years, who are left with their father to mourn the untimely death of a loving and devoted wife and mother. She also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kooistra, of Hull, and three sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Sitter, Mrs. Jelle De Boer and Mrs. J. Oostenink, and Martin Kooistra, all of Hull, and Rev. E. Kooistra, of Austenville, Minn., and John Kooistra, of Hancock, Minn., besides other relatives and many friends. She was a woman who was respected and loved by all who knew her.
