Miss Gertie Bruins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W, Bruins was asphyxiated at the home of friends in Chicago last Sunday morning, where she had gone to visit a short time.

Miss Bruins was a, young lady 26 years of age, of a loveable disposition, an active church worker, and one that had all of her acquaintance as personal friends. Last week Friday she started for Chicago full of life and health to enjoy a short visit with friends there, and anticipated a splendid time in her outing, which was brought to such an untimely end. When she retired to rest Saturday evening in turning out the gas she turned the stopper too far which extinguished the flame and then again opened the jet enough so that the gas escaped and then retired all unconscious of the deadly poison that was escaping. Sunday morning she was found unconscious and a hard battle was waged for her life by the best medical skill that the great city afforded, but Tuesday afternoon or evening her spirit took its, flight to its creator.

Mr. and Mrs. Bruins and Dick, started for Chicago Tuesday afternoon but did not arrive there until to late to see her in life. The remains were returned to Boyden today, but at this writing the funeral arrangements are yet to be made. The Reporter joins the many friends in extending sympathy the the bereaved parents, and family and friends.
