De Bauche, Nelma L. (Mrs. James L.) 1941-2017

Nelma L. De Bauche, 75 of South Sioux City passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Matney Colonial Manor in South Sioux City.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City, NE. Rev. Stephen Niles will officiate. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. 
Nelma was born April 25, 1941 in Ireton, IA; she was the daughter of Jacob and Reka (VandeKieft) Sinkey. Nelma went to school for one year in Ireton and then went to Hull Western Christian where she graduated from high school in 1959. After high school, Nelma attended Edwards Business Institute for secretarial classes.
On October 10, 1962, Nelma married James L. De Bauche in Ireton, IA. They were married for 53 years.  James passed away June 13, 2015 in South Sioux City. 
Nelma worked for the O’Brien, O’Brien & Galvin Law firm for several years as a legal secretary and then served as Federal Judge Donald O’Brien’s administrative secretary for 26 years.  Nelma was passionate about her job and her time serving with Judge O’Brien.  She retired in 1999.
Nelma was a member of First Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City. She enjoyed reading, politics and spending time with her grandchildren and winning at bingo at Matney Manor.  She was also an avid sports fan and followed the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Twins.
Survivors include her children: Joseph De Bauche and his wife Stephanie of Omaha, NE and Carol Yandell and her husband Jason of South Sioux City, NE; her sister: Wanda Cooke and her husband Melvin of Ada, MI; 3 grandchildren: Gage and Sayer Yandell and Gianna De Bauche.
Nelma was preceded in death by his parents, her husband Jim and her brother Arthur Sinkey.
Over the year’s Jim and Nelma received assistance from local charities during the Perry Creek Flood and from friends and family with Jim’s health issues.  Due to this, Nelma loved to give to local charities.  In lieu of flowers please consider donating to one of those charities in her honor. The Gospel Mission, Salvation Army, Camp High Hopes, Hospice of Siouxland, Mercy’s Child Advocacy Center, Unity Point Children’s Miracle Network or her beloved church 1st Presbyterian Church in South Sioux City.
