Marion “Mike” Overman age 93 of Sioux Center, IA died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Sanford Senior Care in Sheldon, IA.
 
     Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 28th at Carmel Reformed Church of rural Rock Valley, with Rev. Mike Pitsenberger officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
 
     Visitation will be Monday, March 27th from 4:00 to 7:00PM, with family present 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.
 
     Marion “Mike” Overman was born October 6, 1923, on the family farm by Carmel, the son of Teunis & Reka (Voortman) Overman. He was united in marriage to Johanna Remmerde on July 13, 1945. They made their home on a farm by Carmel for many years and later moved near Hull. Mike was blessed with a loving wife of 71 years and four devoted daughters. His life was filled with great memories and experiences with family. Mike always looked forward to his family’s annual vacation at Lake Okoboji and also spending 20 winters in Arizona. He was a member of the Carmel Reformed Church, where he spent many years on the consistory. Lay witness missions were a special time in his life. He also served on many executive boards in the region and enjoyed woodworking in his retirement.

     Survivors include his wife, Jo of Sioux Center; daughters, Ruth (Clint) Langstraat of Kansas City, Carol (Bill) Koops of Hull, Kathy (Daryl) Winter of Kansas City, and Lois (Randy) Baartman of Hull; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dort Overman of Hull, sister-in-law, Helen Overman of Rock Rapids and sister, Dena Wildeman of Rock Rapids.

     Marion was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, William and wife Adeline, Rena and husband Lawrence Bleeker, Henrietta and husband Alfred Franken, Ted, Gert and husband Bill Spyksma, and Teunis.
