Kenzy Schmidt Services Held Saturday

Military funeral services were held at the Congregational church
at Larchwood, Iowa on Saturday, Feb. 15, f or Kenzy Verlyn
Schmidt, who died at his home in Larchwood of a heart attack Feb.13.
Rev. G. N. Cook was the minister in charge.

He was born Oct. 22, 1919? near Larchwood and lived there, most of his life.
He entered the military service on Dec. 11, 1942 at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. and took surgical training in Fitzsimons general hospital in Denver.
He then participated in three European campaigns, he received his honorable discharge on Dec. 1, 1945, having received four overseas
service bars, European, African , Middle East ribbons,three bronze battle stars, good conduct medal and world war II victory medal.

He then came to Rock Valley and worked for the state liquor commission for 10 years and then spent one year in Mojave, CA.

Mr. Schmidt spent the last year and a half at Larchwood.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Schmidt, and three brothers, Dallas of Sioux Falls, Wayne
of Rock Valley and Francis of Flandreau, S. D.

Pallbearers were Milton Rockhill, Vernon Olson, Harold Gerlach, Kenneth Baldwin, Darwin Nelson and Jake Timmer.

Arrangements were made by the Lockwood-Jongewaard Funeral home at Rock Rapids.
