Death of Thomas Woodall

Thomas Woodall, for many years a resident of Sioux and Plymouth counties, passed away at his home on the farm six miles southeast of Ireton, Sunday night following a long illness from cancer. He submitted to an operation in August, 1921, but got little relief and suffered almost continuously until death relieved him. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Ireton M. E. church. Rev. Otto L. Garr, pastor of the Presbyterian church, had charge of the services in the absence of the Methodist pastor. Interment was made in the Ireton cemetery.
Thomas Woodall was born in Lafayette county, Wis., July 25, 1851, and died May 6, 1923, at the age of 71 years, 9 months and 12 days. On Sept. 22, 1874, he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Harris at Mineral Point, Wis. Six sons were born to this union, three of whom, with the mother, survive. They are B. T. Woodall of Craig, Iowa, and Adrian and Edwin at home. One son, Will Woodall, died at Calgary, Canada, at the age of 39 years, and two boys died in infancy. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jay Peebles of LeMars, and Mrs. Salina Powell of Ridgeway, Wis.
Soon after their marriage they came to Plymouth county with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Woodall, who located on a farm a mile south of LeMars where they lived for eight years. They then came to Sioux county and located on a farm six miles southeast of Ireton. His parents later moved to Maurice where they died. Mr. Woodall bought the home farm from his parents and resided there continuously until his death, with the exception of eight years during which time he was a resident of Struble. About two years ago he moved from Struble back onto the farm with his sons and passed his last days there.
He was well known wherever he lived as a loyal friend and an obliging neighbor. He was a faithful husband and a loving father and the family has the sympathy of a host of friends.
