Died: July 15, 1918

Mrs. Hans Hagge, whose maiden name was Emma Ehlert, was born October 17th, 1891 at Milbank, Grant County, South Dakota. Here she spent the days of her childhood.

On April 6th, 1912, at Ortonville, Minnesota, she was married to Mr. Hans Hagge, the bereaved husband. They had one child, a son who is surviving, Martin. For three years after their marriage, they lived at Ortonville, Minnesota. Then they moved to Andover, South Dakota, and 2 years later to Rochester, Minnesota, where they have since resided.

Some years ago, the deceased suffered with an attack of mental trouble. With scientific care and proper treatment, she was restored to normal condition. Some months ago, however, there were again signs of the old trouble. The usual severe times as well as the nerve raking excitement of the present time, brought about by the war condition, had their telling effect on her weakened mind and nerve condition, with the sad result of her tragic and sudden death.

She died Monday, July 15th, at 5:30 A.M. at their home on W. Maple Street, Rochester, Minnesota, at an age of 26 years, 8 months and 24 days. She is mourned by her husband and son, Martin, seven years old, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Ehlert, of Ortonville, Minnesota, her mother-in-law Mrs. Katherine Hagge of Hull, three brothers and five sisters.

The body was brought to Hull and here she was buried on July 10th at the family cemetery, Reverend P.J. Hange of the Lutheran Church officiating.
