Howard Van Muyden, 66, died Wed. May 25, 2016 at Avera Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls after battling cancer.
His funeral service was held on Sat. May 28, 2016 at Anderson Funeral Home in Canton, S.D.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 27 at Anderson Funeral Home.

Howard was born on Nov. 25, 1949, in Hull, IA to Milton and Tena (Van Grootheest) Van Muyden. He attended school in the Rock Valley/Doon area. He also lived in CA. for 4 years.
Howard married Linda Nichols on Feb. 23, 1973. One son Jason, was born to this union. He served in the Iowa Army National Guard for 4 years. Howard was employed at Bidwell in Canton for over 40 years, retiring ini 2015. He moved to Sioux Falls from his acreage near Canton that same year. Howard enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, camping, watching movies, music and playing guitar.
Howard is survived by his son, Jason (Mindy) Cleland) of Sioux Falls; 2 grandsons, Parker Van Muyden and Andrew Serie; sister, Delores Mulder of LeMars, IA. special aunt and uncle Wilma and Hans Van Roekel of Rock Valley, IA, who Howard spent alot of time with growing up, along with many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
