Mrs. Lillian Hancock, age 80, of Orange City, passed away Saturday, May 3, at the Orange City Municipal Hospital.

There was a funeral service on Tuesday, May 6, at 11:00 am, at the American Reformed Church in Orange City. The Reverend Harlan Van Oort officiated. Interment followed at West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. The Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City made arrangements.

Lillian May was born November 9, 1922, at Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of James and Ada May (Johnson) Shields. She was raised in Kansas and Oklahoma.

On February 8, 1941, she married Albert Sidney Hancock, Jr., at Chickasha, Oklahoma. They lived in Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia, until the late 1940's, when they moved to Orange City.

They have since made their home in Orange City, where she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Hancock was a member of the American Reformed Church. She also belonged to Century Chapter 298 of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron several terms.

In earlier years, she received an award for her activities with the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed reading.

Survivors include her husband, "Al"; two sons, Craig Hancock, of Peoria, Illinois; and Curt Hancock, and his wife, Valerie, of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Chad Hancock, and his wife, Kathy; Kevin Hancock, and his wife, Jennie; Ryan Hancock; and Sondra Hancock; two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Alec Hancock; and a sister, Opal Garrison, of Chickasha.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin; and two sisters, Dorothy Eknes and Ruth Gabbard.
