Orville Frederick "Boots" Heuer, 93, died in Phoenix, AZ on Feb.9, 2016.

Boots was born in Hawarden on Nov. 8, 1922 to William F. Heuer and Eva K. Witt. His parents were the children of Hawarden pioneers who settled in the area in the 1870's.

Boots and his wife, Helen (Beelner), owned and operated Seals Tavern in the early 1950s and Boots Motel in the late 1950's, before moving to Phoenix in 1959. Boots served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Pat (Julie) and Bill (Betty); a daughter, Barbara O'Brien; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Boots was preceded in death by a son, Michael, and two grandsons.
