GRAVESIDE SERVICES HELD FRIDAY, P.M. FOR MRS. EFFIE (BELLESFIELD) HAMILTON

Graveside services for Mrs. Effie Hamilton, 87, were held in the Valley View Cemetery Friday afternoon, May 24. Mrs. Hamilton died in the Fairview Nursing Home, Flandreau, South Dakota, May 21, after a long illness.

Services were conducted by brothers of the Church of Latter Day Saints of Flandreau Friday morning.

Effie Bellesfield, was born near Rock Valley November 25, 1875. She was rised and educated in Sioux County and operated a dressmaking business here for some time. She was married to Oliver D. Hamilton April 1, 1903. After spending a few years at Rock Valley they moved to Canton, South Dakota. They also resided at Hitchcock, South Dakota, Hancock, Minnesota, and Becker, Minnesota where Mr. Hamilton died March 4, 1917.

The family moved to Pipestone, Minnesota, where Mrs. Hamilton lived until entering a nursing home at Chester, South Dakota and later the Fairview Nursing Home, Flandreau.

She was a member of the Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Rebekah Lodges.

Mrs. Hamilton was a daughter of pioneers, her father having came to Sioux County in 1868 and her mother in 1872. She was one of the first white children born in Sioux County.

Survivors include two sons, Howard of Flandreau, South Dakota and Robert of Hartford, South Dakota; three daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Richardson, Pipestone, Minnesota, Mrs. Bert (Ruth) Valentine, Pipestone, Minnesota and Mrs. Ralph (Avis) Drenth, Exceisier, Minnesota; two sisters, Mrs. Albert (Cynthia) Smith, Yoncalle, Oregon and Mrs. Amy Moore, Prescott; a brother, Wilmer Bellesfield, Spencer; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Lois Butts Drenth, one brother C. Brown Bellesfield, and two sisters, Mrs. Millie Firman and Mrs. Rouie Kurvink.

Among those attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamilton, Mrs. Eleanor Richardson, Mr. and Mrs. Valentine, Mr. and Mrs. Drenth and members of their families, Mrs. Amy Moore, Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer Bellesfield, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Winter, Hornick, Mrs. Robert Butts, Hatfield, Minnesota, and Harold Richardson, Sioux Fall.
