The body of Harold Eggebrecht, aged 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Eggebrecht of Craig, was found in a corn field about a mile and one half from his home lat Thursday evening following a search of several hours by members of the family and neighbors. The youth was dragged to death by the horse he was riding. The body, when found, was stiffened by the chill of wintry weather and so it is believed that he had been dead several hours when the body was found. The skull of the youth was fractured and marks on the back of his limbs indicated that he had been dragged a quarter of a mile. The supposition is that he was jolted from the horse while he was rounding up some more horses and that the horse gave a sudden plunge, throwing him to the ground, his foot catching him in the stirrup. Another theory is that he might have suffered a sudden attack of heart trouble.

Young Eggebrecht left home about 11 o’clock in the morning with the intention of taking some horses to another field. He stated when he left the house that he planned to attend a sale and so when he did not returned nothing was thought of it. Late in the afternoon when it was learned by means of the telephone that he had not been at the sale a search was instituted for the youth and his lifeless body was found. The young man had spent his entire life in the neighborhood of Craig and had helped his father in the work on their large stock farm.

He is survived by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers.
