Mrs. Butler, the aged mother of Mrs. De Vries, passed away very suddenly Monday evening. Mr. and
Mrs. Butler have made their home with their son-in-law living three miles north of town, for a number of years. Mrs. Butler was in usual health and preparing the children for bed when the members of the family noticed that she was not acting right. They laid her down and she was dead.

The funeral services were held from the home Thursday afternoon and interment made at Ireton cemetery

Mrs. Jos. Butler died Monday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Peter DeVries, three miles north of town. She was about 65 years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Butler have been residents of Sioux county for about twenty-five years and made their home near Sioux Center until six years ago, since which they have made their home with their daughter. Funeral services were held yesterday at the De Vries home, Rev. Mark Masters, pastor of the M. E. church conducting the services

Note: From a family report on ancestry - Nancy Ann Burch was born 8 May 1846 Glasgow, Barren Kentucky died 17 Feb 1913 Ireton IA. She was the daughter of Philip Hezekiah Burch 1823-1886 and Elizabeth Key 1819-1967. She was married to Joseph Butler 17 Mar 1874 Marion County IA. Children – Jennie Butler DeVries 1876, Virginia 1877, Eva 1878, Evelyn 1878, Ersch. And Noah.
