Cornelius Blom, 69 farmer living near Rock Valley died at his home after a long illness on Sunday morning. Mr. Blom was born in Kamerik Holland March 31, 1885. He settled at Pella IA where he resided for 16 years and then settled on a farm near Rock Valley where he has resided for the last 32 years.

Survivors include his wife, six sons, Jake of Artesia CA, Jim, John, Arie and Henry of Rock Valley and Cornie of Corsica SD; three daughters Marie Mrs. Jim Van Kekerix, Rock Valley; Jennie Mrs. Bert Kramer, Ruthland SD and Nellie Mrs. Gerrit Vande Hoef, Sioux Center; two brothers in the Netherlands and 14 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Thursday May 6 at 12:30 at the home and 2:00 at the Netherlands Reformed Church of Sioux Center. Rev. C. Hageman officiating. Burial took place in the Valley View Cemetery with Mulder Vander Ploeg Funeral home in charge.

Note: As listed in the Sioux County cemetery index - Blom, Cornelius 1885 -1954 on same stone is Marie, buried in Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley IA. According to the obit of his daughter Marie Van Kekerix, Cornleius’s wife was Maria Van Dorp. According to the 1925 census of Mahaska County IA Cornelius’ parents were John Blom and Maria Van Oostrum.
