Hold Last Rites For Joe Groeneweg

Funeral services were held for Mr. Joe Groeneweg on Saturday, April 10, with Reverend J. Van Zweden officiating. Mr. Groeneweg had attained the age of 59 years, 5 months, and 23 days. Mr. Groeneweg died at his home Wednesday, April 7, following a stroke.

The deceased was born Sepember 14, 1888 in the Netherlands. At the age of six years he came to this country and settled in Middleburg.

On June 22, 1911, he was married to Coba Jacobsma of Rock Valley. To this union five children were born: Adrianna (Mrs. Joe Hoogendoorn) Rock Valley; Tena (Mrs. Bert Berg, Jr.) Hills, Minnesota; Paul Rock Valley; Pearl (Mrs. Clarence Groen) Hudson; Jeanette (Mrs. John Groen) Inwood, Iowa.

Mr. Groeneweg was engaged in farming until he retired after his first stroke, five years ago, from which he had never recovered.

His departure is mourned by the following survivors: his wife, five children, twelve grandchildren, two brothers, Walt and Bas and a sister, Gertie (Mrs. Tim Kooima), all of Rock Valley.

One grandchild, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
