Rock Valley, IA: Mable Van Den Top, 80, of Rock Valley, died Sunday, February 12, 2017, at Hudson Care & Rehab Center in Hudson, South Dakota. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 16, at 10:00 AM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley with Rev. E.C. Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with family present, will be Wednesday, February 15, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home. 
 
Mable Van Den Top, daughter of William and Maggie (De Vries) Ter Meer, was born November 19, 1936 at Inwood, Iowa. On June 10, 1955, Mable was united in marriage with John Van Den Top in Inwood, Iowa. Together the couple made their home in Inwood until 1964 at which time they moved to Rock Valley. Mable was very involved with Meals on Wheels, the Hegg Memorial Hospital Bazaar, and was a long-time member of the Rock Valley Public Library Board. Mable was an avid crafter, quilter, and she also loved fishing with her family and friends.
 
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John; 4 children, Sharon (Engel) Knibbe of Richland, Washington, Steve (Lisa) Van Den Top of Rock Valley, Tricia Van Den Top of Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, and Karl (Ashley) Van Den Top of Utica, New York; 8 grandchildren, Angie Larsen, Renae (Jason) Stout, Leah Knibbe, Zachary Van Den Top, Katie (Justin) Juffer, Brittany Van Den Top, Jaxon Van Den Top, and Zoey Van Den Top; 7 great-grandchildren, Ty, Ezekiel, and Elijah Larsen, Clayton and Bentley Juffer, and Jacob and Abigail Stout ; brother, Walter Ter Meer of Brazil, Indiana; and sister-in-law, Janet Ter Meer of Rialto, California.
 
Mable was preceded in death by her parents, William and Maggie Ter Meer; father and mother-in-law, John and Carrie Van Den Top; son, Mark Van Den Top; and siblings, Opie Ter Meer, Bertha Roos, Hermina Kooima and Kathleen Ter Meer.
