Mr. Orville Nettinga, age 79, of Hull, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2016, at Sioux Center Health.

There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, February 15, at 3:00pm, at the American Reformed Church in Hull. The Rev. Steven Bierly will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at the Hope Cemetery in Hull. There will be a prayer service on Wednesday, at 2:00pm, at the church.

Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, at the church. Arrangements are with the Oolman Funeral Home in Hull.

Orville Don was born on August 28, 1937, on a farm southwest of Hull, the son of Gerrit and Jennie Clarice (Dykstra) Nettinga. He was raised on the family’s Century Farm, where he graduated from the Lincoln Township Number 7 Country School.

He farmed with his father for many years. In December of 2008, he became a resident of the Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull.

Mr. Nettinga was a member of the American Reformed Church, where he sang in the choir. He also sang with the Senior Saints for several years.

His love for music became evident at a very young age. He entertained at many public gatherings and at area nursing homes with piano, keyboard, and accordion, for which he received a volunteer award. The Lord blessed him with a wonderful musical gift, which he used to bless others and to praise the Lord.

Survivors include his sister, Shirley Sybesma, of Sioux Center; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives, Morris and Verga Nettinga and Gerald and Helen Nettinga; and a brother-in-law, Stanley Sybesma.

Memorials may be directed to the music fund of the American Reformed Church in Hull.
