Alfred Hoogland, age 99 of Sioux Center, formerly of Hospers, IA died Friday January 27, 2017 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center, IA.
    Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Friday, February 3, 2017 at First Christian Reformed Church of Hospers with Pastor Marvin Leese officiating.  Burial will follow at Hospers Cemetery in Hospers, IA.
    Family will greet guests from 9:30 until the time of service Friday morning at the church.
   Alfred was born May 19, 1917 in Sioux Center, IA the oldest son of Lambert and Kate (Bosch) Hoogland.  Alfred was a blacksmith by trade.  He Married Ethel Hulstein on June 5, 1946 of Carmel and they were married 70 years.  The couple lived in Hospers for 56 years.  Alfred and Hank Bow owned the Farm Service shop from 1946 - 1964.  He continued working there til he was 92.
     In 1965 they moved to rural Hospers and owned and operated a 10,000 bird laying house till 1974.  He has been a resident of Royale Meadows for five years.
     Alfred is survived by his children, Leonard of Alton, IA, Roger (Deb) Hoogland of Fort Lupton, CO, Stan (Nancy) Hoogland of Granville, IA, and Edwin (Marla) Hoogland of Orange City, IA;  Leonard’s children: Tanya (Matt) Eaton of NC; Kayla (Matt) Blessinger and their children, Mitchell and Lila of CO; Roger’s children: Jason (Shelly) Luckel and their children, Alexis, Joshua and JJ of PA, Jeremiah Blagowski of CO, Bradley (Stephanie) Hoogland and their daughter, Paisley of CO; Stan’s children, Darren (Deb) Hoogland of IA, Cory (Ashley) Hoogland of IA, KayLynn (Elmer) Rolfes and their son, Carson of IA; Ed’s children:  Trenton of IA, Matt (Heather) Vande Kieft of MN, Morgan Hoogland of IA; brother, Dick Hoogland of Sioux Center; many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
     He was preceded in death by his parents, Lambert and Kate Hoogland; two grandchildren, Shelly and Nathan; brother, John Hoogland; sisters, Bertha Brands and Alice Brands;
