Two brothers-in-law, both former Granville residents, died as a result of snowmobile accident at Omaha Friday night.

Robert Meis, 31, and his brother-im-law, Douglas Graff,32, both of Omaha, died from head injuries they sustained when the snowmobile they were riding went into a 75-foot deep ravine, authorities said.

Douglas County sheriff’s deputies said both men had ridden in the area many times before the accident happened about 10 P.M. Friday. Neither men were wearing a helmet, according to sheriff’s deputies. Both were declared dead on arrival at an Omaha Hospital.

Services for both men will be at 11 A.M. December 24 in St. Joseph Catholic Church at Granville. The Reverend Edward Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery under the direction of Fisch Funeral Home at Remsen.

Mr. Meis was born November 22, 1943 at Granville. He lived at Granville most of his life, moving to Omaha six years ago. He graduated from Spalding High School at Granville in 1962. He was married to Janice Heitmann December 27, 1969 at Holstein. He worked for Cramer of Omaha as an automobile painter.

Survivors include the widow; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Meis of Granville; four brothers, William of Lakewood, California, Ron and Kenneth, both of Omaha, and Tom of Granville; one sister, Mrs. Mary Ellen Koob of Omaha; and his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Kathrine Meis of Le Mars.

Mr. Graff was born September 8, 1942 at Le Mars. He had lived at Granville and had moved to Omaha six years ago. He was graduated from Spalding High School in 1960.

He was married to JoAnn Heitmann September 7, 1963, at Holstein. He was a claims examiner for the Mutual Protective Insurance Company.

Survivors include the widow; three sons, Greg, Scott and Curt, all at home; his mother, Mrs. Milo Graff of Granville; four sisters, Mrs. Donald Schiltz of Remsen, Mrs. Eugene Heying of Granville, Mrs. Ted De Vries of Sioux City and Mrs. Mark Dehner of Minot, North Dakota; and four brothers, Kenneth of Lake City, Bruce of Huxley, Eugene of Des Moines and Milo Jr. of Granville.
