Esther J. Gorman, 91, of Le Mars, Iowa and formerly of Sioux City, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 20, 1997, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars.

Services were held on Saturday morning, May 24, 1997, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City, where she was a member, the Reverend Joseph Dillinger officiating. Burial was in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ireton, Iowa, under the direction of the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Mrs. Gorman was born April 30, 1906, at Maurice, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Matilda (Geuder) Hennrich. She was raised on a farm near Maurice. After earning a teaching certificate, she taught school in Maurice.

She married Glen Keough in April, 1932. He died in 1946 at Maurice. She married Francis Gorman in 1948, in Le Mars, and the couple moved to Sioux City in 1965. Mr. Gorman died in 1978 in Sioux City. Mrs. Gorman was employed in retail sales while living in Madison, Le Mars and Sioux City, Iowa. She had lived in Le Mars for the past two and one half years.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Thomas and Trudie Keough of San Diego, California; a daughter and her husband, Lynne and Jack Wetzel of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Michael and Theresa Geough, Elizabeth Engle, John Wetzel, Susan Peterson, and John Dallen; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and four sisters.
