From the Sioux County Index (Hull), March 17, 1922:

Passing of W. H. Snyder

William Hugo Snyder was born Jan. 16, 1964[i.e., 1864], at Prairie DuChien, Wis. At an early age he moved to Warren, Pa., where he spent his childhood and early manhood days. At the age of twenty-five years he came to North western Iowa, and was united in holy marriage at Doon, Iowa, with Miss Bertha M. Boggess of Rock Valley, on May 27, 1892. To this happy union two children were born--Opal May and Eva June. Eva June passed to the Great Beyond in her infancy.

The first few years of their married life were spent in Alvord. Later hey moved to Mt. Vernon, S.D., and later lived at Hull and Dumont, Iowa. Four years ago they moved to Dubuque. Here Mr. Snyder became ill, ad after undergoing a critical operation at Rochester, Minn., for a tumor in the spinal cord, he passed to the Great Beyond on March 4, 1922, at his home, 433 Summit St.

"Snyder" as he was known to everyone, was of a very cheerful mind and was always happy--even through his long hours of suffering he was always hopeful and cheery. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was also a member of the I.O.O.F. and Modern Woodman lodges of Mt. Vernon, S.D.

He leaves to mourn his death his widow and daughter, two brothers Chas. of Custer, S.D. and Edward of Warren, Pa., besides other more distant relatives and a host of friends.

The remains arrived from the Dubuque home Monday evening, and the funeral was held from the W. P. Page home Tuesday. Rev E. H. Jahr, pastor of the Lutheran Church, officiating.

The relatives and friends from out of town that were here to attend the funeral of W. H. Snyder Tuesday were Mrs. F. M. Hatch of Chicago, L. J. Boggess of Hull, Iowa, R. W. Cunningham of Clinton, Iowa, and Mr. C. B. Woodard, Mt. Vernon, S. Dakota.--Alvord Register.
