From the Rock Valley Bee, March 17, 1922:

DEATH OF MRS. O. H. LUMRY

The McLean County, N.D., Independent gives the following account of the death of Mrs. Lumry whose remains were brought from Minneapolis to Rock Valley for burial last week, which will be of interest at this time. Mrs. Lumry lived at Garrison, N. Dak. She had been taken to Minneapolis for an operation from which she could not recover. She will be remembered here as Miss Emma Lundy, who taught in our public school several years ago. Her parents resided here for many years. The article mentioned above follows:

"Last Sunday afternoon message was received here bearing the sad news that Mrs. O. H. Lumry had passed away suddenly at Minneapolis where she had gone for medical treatment. Mr. Lumry was not with his wife at the time of her death, as he had gone to Stanford, Montana, to visit his daughter.

"Rev. Winslow, former pastor here, now living in Minneapolis, notified Mr. Lumry and his son, Worth, at Bismark[sic] Sunday and on Monday a message was received here also bearly[sic] stating the fact. Mr. Lumry left Montana at once reaching Bismark Monday, and after a few hours stop with his son continued his sad journey, reaching his destination the following morning learned the particulars concerning Mrs. Lumry's death as stated in the telegram received by the Independent Wednesday morning.

"Mrs. Lumry had lived in Garrison the past 13 years, having come here as a teacher in the public schools. During the first years here she made the acquaintance of Mr. Lumry which culminated in their marriage. Mrs. Lumry has continued to teach school the greater part of the time up to the last couple of years.

"She was a member of the Garrison Congregational church, taking an active part in all church work, especially in Sunday school as a teacher of a class of girls. Also a member of the Tuesday Improvement club, in all of which she was highly esteemed.

"Mrs. Lumry having been in ill health the past months, left here about Feb. 1st. going to Enderlin where treatments were taken for a time and later went to Minneapolis where she departed this life. Mr. Lumry and relatives of the deceased have the sympathy of a large circle of friends of this entire community in their sad bereavement."

The Minnesota Death Certificates Index has Lumry, Emma E., died March 5, 1922, in Hennepin County. Certificate no. 1922-MN-017437.
