From the Rock Valley Bee, February 17, 1922:

DEATH OF FORMER RESIDENT

The following from the Chamberlain Democrat tells of the death of a former well-known Rock Valley resident.

"Mrs. George B. Wall died at her home in this city Feb. 6, 1922. She had been ill but a few days, having contracted a cold which developed into pneumonia, and from which she was unable to rally. The news of her death came as a shock to many close friends who had not known that she was ill, and the grief of her husband and family seemed even harder because death came so quickly.

Mrs. Wall's maiden name was Olive Elizabeth Chapin. She was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y., April 25, 1855, and grew to young womanhood there. In March, 1876, she was married to George B. Wall at Ogdensburg. Three years [later] they moved to Minnesota, but later homesteaded near Madison, S.D. South Dakota has been their home ever since, except for about five years when they lived at Rock Valley, Iowa. The Wall family came to Chamberlain in November, 1906.

Mrs. Wall was by nature a quiet unassuming woman. She loved her home and family best and cared little for what is generally termed society. A good woman devoted and faithful to family and friends, she was the exemplification of those Christian virtues known so well to those who knew her best.

Mrs. Wall is survived by her husband, George B. Wall, three daughters and two sons. The daughters are Mrs. Lottie Byrnes, Kadoka, S.D., Mrs. Olive Hughes, Smithwick, S.D., and Mrs. Rubertie Kessler of Okaton, S.D. The sons are Judson D. Wall and Claude H. Wall, both of Chamberlain. There are nine grand children.

Interment was made in the Riv[er]view Cemetery, overlooking the hills and valleys of the Missouri river and the American Island, which with her husband she has helped so much to beautify, and loved it for its seclusion and beauties of nature."
