Mrs. Henrietta Gebauer Hulst, a resident of Alton for 60 years, died Monday, March 5 at 6:00 P.M. at the Orange City Hospital after a short illness. She had lived at Pleasant Acres Rest Home near Hull for nearly a year.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Alton Reformed Church at 1:30. The body may be viewed at the Van Etten Funeral Home where relatives and friends may meet the family Wednesday evening.

Henrietta Romberg, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Romberg, was born in Hoogeven, Netherlands June 5, 1886 and moved with her parents at the age of 12 to Eichel, Germany. She was married there to William Gebauer in 1904. In 1906 the couple and their oldest child, Ann, came to the United States settling at Alton where Mrs. Gebauer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Romberg had preceded them.

Nine children were born to the union, all surviving their mother: Ann, Mrs. Claude Bills, Newton; John, Rantoul, Illinois; Jennette, Mrs. Gerald Weis, Drexel Hills, Pennsylvania; Henry, Akron; Ralph, Orange City; William Jr., Alton; Julius, Orange, California; Gus, Lakewood, California; Shirley, Mrs. Gene Klein, Alton. Also surviving are 33 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Gebauer died October 17, 1950 and in December, 1953 Mrs. Gebauer was married to Nick Hulst of Hospers. The couple lived in Alton where Mr. Hulst died March 13, 1958.

Mrs. Hulst was a faithful member of the Reformed Church here and was loved by many friends as well as by her devoted family.

Arriving by plane from California Tuesday evening were Gus Gebauer and daughter Marsha and Julius Gebauer. Other members of the family are expected Wednesday.
