HOLD LAST RITES MONDAY MORNING FOR FAY GASPAR

Funeral services for Michael Fay Gaspar, 59, were held here Monday morning at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend David McGoey officiating. Burial was made at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Gaspar died last Friday at the Sacred Heart Hospital at Le Mars, following an illness of close to a year’s duration. His death was attributed to a heart ailment.

Michael Fay Gaspar was born January 20, 1890 at Kingsley, Plymouth County, Iowa, the son of Julia and Lambert Gaspar. In 1907 he moved with his parents to Sioux County, Iowa where he grew to manhood. On January 12, 1921 he was united in marriage to Margaret Haupert of Granville, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born both of whom died in infancy.

He farmed near Granville for eight years, later moving to Sheldon, where he lived for three years, after which he purchased a farm near Rock Valley. He resided there until his death.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret, also two sisters and five brothers namely: Miss Lucy Gaspar of Sutherland, Iowa and Betty (Mrs. Walter Fick) Hynes of Rock Valley, Joseph L. (Bert) of Dell Rapids, South Dakota, Nicholas W. of Orient, South Dakota, William J. of Miller, South Dakota, Bernard P. and Lawrence E. both of Granville, Iowa, all of whom were present at the funeral.

Other immediate relatives attending the funeral were: Mrs. Bert Gaspar and son, Mike, of Dell Rapids, Mrs. Will Gasper, Miller, South Dakota, Pick Hynes, Rock Valley.

Mrs. Lawrence Gaspar, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Haupert and son, Cyril, Miss Mary Haupert, Mr. and Mrs. Christ Portz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Portz and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spieler and daughter, all of Granville, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Stallman and Mr. and Mrs. H.A. Stallman of Independence, Missouri, Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Haupert, Alton, Iowa and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Haupert of Pipestone, Minnesota and others from the tri-state area.
