David Scott Dykstra, age 46, of Ashton, Iowa, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his home in Ashton.

Funeral Services will be Friday, December 30, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Sheldon, Iowa. Rev. Kevin Gingerich and Rev. Marvin Lindley officiating.

Burial to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Matlock, Iowa.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 29, from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

David Scott Dykstra was born on August 29, 1970 in Sheldon, Iowa. He is the son of Henry and Carolyn (Ling) Dykstra. He lived his youth in Archer, Iowa, attended the Sheldon Christian Grade School and Orange City Unity Christian High School, later earning his GED. During his youth he was a member of Immanuel Christian Reformed Church Cadet Club.
He was united in marriage to Karrine Johnson of Sibley, Iowa on January 2, 2010 in Sibley. They lived in Ashton, Iowa. David worked at Dura-Lift Inc. in George, Iowa for almost 18 years. He loved his job, the challenge of everyday, and the comradery of the people he worked with.
David was a member of the United Methodist Church in Sheldon where he was on the Board of Trustees, involved in the Mission Community and was a cast member of the living Last Supper at church.
David thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, being with his family and spending hours out in the woods enjoying nature. His dogs, Spirit and Ariel, were very special to him and he considered them as gifts from God.
David will be remembered as a very giving person.
He died on Saturday, December 24, 2016 at his home in Ashton.
Those left to cherish memories are his wife, Karrine Dykstra of Ashton, IA; two daughters, Emily and husband Chad Eide of Watertown, SD and Jamie Highsmith of Watertown, SD; his parents, Henry and Carolyn Dykstra of Archer, IA; maternal grandmother, Audrey Ling of Worthington, MN; two sisters, Christina (Jonathan) Goetzke of Archer, IA and Brenda (Jeff) Heithus of Germantown, IA.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Dykstra; two nephews, Justin Goetzke and Matthew Goetzke; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Tillie Dykstra; maternal grandfather Robert Ling.
