Anna Roetman age 98 of Sioux Center, IA died Monday, December 26, 2016 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2016 at Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center, with Reverend R. Van Rathbun officiating.
Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, IA.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 31st from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the Central Reformed Church in Sioux Center.
Anna Roetman was born on June 22, 1918 to Garritt and Dena (DeJong) Beyer on their farm just west of Newkirk, IA.  She was the 4th of 5 children.  She attended the Newkirk school system, graduating in 1936.
On April 4, 1941, she married Ed Roetman, also from Newkirk.  About a year later they bought her parents farm and farmed it for the next 18 years.  During that time they had 3 children: Ronald, Lee Ann and Bruce.
In 1960 they moved to Sioux Center after buying half of the Sioux Center Sales Company, later changing its name to Tri-State Livestock.  That's where they lived the rest of their lives.
Anna was a strong supporter to Ed both on the farm and at the sale barn, but she was mainly the core of the family at home.  As with so many stay-at-home moms she did anything and everything, and she did it with grace and efficiency.
She involved herself with many roles in her church and community and raised her kids to look for ways to help others.  She loved her creator and especially loved the beautiful things he created: art, music, nature, diversity, life in all forms.  She and Ed loved to travel and to share their blessings.
Anna outlived almost every family member in her generation.  She is survived by one sister-in-law, Lavonne Beyer, of Woodland Hills, CA; her sons and their spouses - Ron and JoRetta of Cumming, GA, and Bruce and Mary, in Sioux Center; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the rest of her siblings and their spouses, as well as all of Ed's siblings and spouses, her husband Ed, in 2009 and her daughter Lee Ann, in 2014.
Memorial donations may be made to the Center for Financial Education.
