Mrs. Fred Earll, 82, a resident of Hawarden and vicinity more than 70 years, died Saturday at the Hawarden Hospital after several years of failing health.

At the age of 12 she came to Union County, South Dakota, with her parents in a covered wagon from Cascade, Iowa. They located just across the river and later they moved to Calliope.

Elenora Summers was born February 6, 1871, in Black Hawk County, Iowa. At the age of six she moved with her parents to Cascade, Iowa.

She was married to Frederick Earll in Calliope, August 15, 1889, and made her home in Washington Township until 1914 when they retired and moved to Hawarden.

She was a member of the Baptist Church in which she was a faithful worker as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of June Rebekah Lodge and the Mothers Club of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was the mother of nine children, four of whom preceded her in death. Three died in infancy and Harold died at the age of 17.

Survivors include the widower, who has been ill for many years; three sons, Elmer of Hawarden, Wayne of Canton, South Dakota, and Berton of Des Moines; two daughters, Leila at home and Mrs. O.L. Grantham of Plainview, Texas; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Clara Hansen of Los Angeles, California, and one brother, Raymond A. Summers of Fairpoint, South Dakota.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon at the Frazier Funeral Home and 2 o'clock at the Baptist Church with Reverend Paul Williams officiating. Burial was in Grace Hill Cemetery.
