Death of Eagle Township lady
Mrs. Gerrit Boone answered call Tuesday evening.
End Came at Hospital in Iowa City following Operation leaves Husband and six children.
The many friends of Mrs. Gerrit Boone, who resided several miles northeast of Hawarden, were grieved to learn of her death which occurred Tuesday evening at a hospital in Iowa City following and operation. Mrs. Boone went to Iowa City Feb. 5th where she entered a hospital and after receiving treatments for a time she submitted to an operation for a goiter which had caused her trouble for some time. She seemed to recover from this ordeal and last Friday she submitted to a second operation for ulcers of the stomach. Due to her weakened condition she was unable to overcome the effects of the second operation and she grew weaker gradually until the end came Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Boone was taken ill with bronchitis last fall and she never fully recovered from this illness although she was up and around. When Mrs. Boone left for Iowa City her son Arthur was a patient in the Hawarden hospital recovering from an operation for appendicitis. Mr. Boone and his daughter Elizabeth were with her at the time she submitted to the goitre operation and later her daughter returned home but Mr. Boone remained at her bedside and was with her when the end came. The body, accompanied by Mr. Boone, arrived in Ireton today. No funeral arrangements were made until the arrival of the body.

Ellie Busch was born at Aalten Holland, Jan. 12, 1887, and so was but a trifle past 41 years of age. She came to America with her parents when but a mere child and the family settled at Alton. Most of her time in America was spent In Sioux county Her mother died when she was 14 years old. She was united in marriage with Gerrit Boone Jan. 4, 1906 and for many years they have resided northeast of Hawarden. She was a member of the First Christian church of Ireton.

She is survived by her husband and six children, four daughters Jeanette, Elizabeth, Alice and Johanna, and two sons, Andrew and Arthur. She also leaves to mourn her death her father and step-mother who reside at Alton, one brother and one half-brother.

Mrs. Boone was a good Christian woman, who held the welfare of her home the first thought. No task was too hard nor sacrifice too great for her family. Her untimely death will be mourned by many outside of the family circle and sincere sympathy is extended to the husband and children who have been robbed of the loving care of a good wife and mother.
