Mrs. Bogaard Dies Saturday
Mrs. H. B. Bogaard, nee Jana Cornelia Jongewaard, daughter of Helena Stoutenberg and Cornelius Jongewaard, was born in Marion County IA January 22, 1873, and passed away at her home in Orange City Dec 1, 1945, at the age of 82 years.

While a baby of only a few months old, she accompanied her parents over the Oregon Trail to the Pacific Coast. When she was five years old, the family returned to the east coast by ship and same to Pella IA later settling in Sioux County North of Orange City.

On February 23, 1885, she was united in marriage to Hillabrant Bogaard. To this union 13 children
were born. Those surviving are Cornelius of Rock Valley, Dr. David of Sterling. IL., Mrs. John A. Brink of Glendale CA, Mrs. K. W. Coleman of Grosse Pointe MI, Elizabeth of Orange City, William and Dr. Kenneth, both of Cedar Rapids, Joseph of Sioux City, and Harvey of Reinbeck There are 15 grandchildren. A sister Mrs. C. A. Walhof of Rock Valley also survives.

On Feb. 23, 1935, she and her husband celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary, with all the surviving children present for the happy occasion. The following year on January 18, 1936, Mr. Bogaard died. Also preceding her in death were two sons and two daughters.
She was a king wife and mother, and was held in high regard and respect by all who knew her. Throughout trying physical circumstances, she accepted her burden willingly For the past several years, she had been devotedly cared for by her daughter Miss Elizabeth.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday , at the home and at the First Reformed church of Orange City. Rev. H. Colenbrander was in charge of the services. Interment was in the local cemetery on the family plot. ( West Lawn Cemetery Orange City.)
