Sioux County Capital of Nov 5, 1998

Helen Bindner, 85, of Alton, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1998 at Marian Health Center in Sioux City.
Services were held on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton. Her nephew, Rev. Anthony Pick of Royal and Rev. James Tigges of Alton officiated. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery under the direction of the Fisch Funeral Home in Remsen.

Helen was born Nov. 27, 1912 at rural Oyens, the daughter of Peter and Mary (Feller) Pletschette. She was raised and educated in the Oyens area and graduated from LeMars Community High School in 1930. She attended Morningside College in Sioux City for a year. She married William Bindner on June 8, 1932 at Le Mars. The couple lived and farmed in the Alton and Granville area, retiring and moving into Alton in 1968. Mr. Bindner died Jan. 24, 1979. Helen had been a resident of The Abbey of Le Mars since October, 1990. Mrs. Bindner was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Church Guild and St. Mary's Rosary Society.

Survivors include a son Vincent and his wife Judy of Marshalltown; two grandsons, Paul and Nolan Bindner, both of Marshalltown; a granddaughter, Katie Bindner of Ames; and two sisters,, her twin sister, Cecelia (Mrs. Lawrence) Pick of Alton and Mildred and her husband Leonard Bindner of Marcus. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Martin and Nick Pletschette; and five sisters, Clara Loutsch, Mathilda Jochum, Christine Schuster, Regina Miller and Agnes Swain.
