Patricia “Patty” Draayer, age 57, of Sioux Center, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Sioux Center Community Hospital in Sioux Center.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center. Pastor Dan Kruse officiating.

Burial at a later date.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Patricia “Patty” Faith Draayer was born on February 21, 1959 in Sibley, Iowa. She was the daughter of Andrew and Nelvina (Vellinga) Mouw. She lived her youth in Sibley where she attended school. She attended Western Christian High School in Hull, Iowa, graduating in 1977. Patty went to Stewarts School of Hairstyling in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. After receiving her cosmetology license she worked as a stylist in Sioux Falls until she was involved in a car accident that left her unable to continue her profession. Patty worked as a CNA for five years. For the last 17 years she worked at Wells Blue Bunny in LeMars, Iowa. She was the first woman to work in the sanitation department at Wells.
Patty had a love for life and was a strong, determined and adventurous person. She liked to be a prankster and make people laugh. She enjoyed camping, fishing, going to rodeos and fairs with her family and having horses and cats as pets. The love of her family and grandkids was very important to her. She was very supportive of her children and all they were involved in.
Patty started singing with her sisters on July 21, 1967. They enjoyed practicing and singing together and were known as the “Mouw Sisters”. They sang in numerous church related events.
She was a member of the New Life Reformed Church in Sioux Center, Iowa.
Patty passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2016 after her battle with cancer.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Anthony “Tony” Draayer of Boyden, IA, and children, Jaedyn of Sioux Center, IA and Taetum and Treyton of Rock Valley, IA; her daughter, Ashley Wood and son, Gunner of Sioux Center, IA; 4 sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Gayle Zonnefeld of Berthoud, CO, Vicki and Arlan Dykstra of Sioux Center, IA, Debra and Steven Terrell of Harriman, TN, Connie and Lauren Runia of Manhattan, MT; one brother, Andrew Peter Mouw of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
