From the Hull Index, March 22, 1912:

W. B. ROMBOUGH.

William B. Rombough died at his home in the northeast part of Hull, Sunday night, March 17th, 1912, about 10:40 o'clock, aged sixty years and nine days.

Mr. Rombough suffered an attack of grip some months age and the disease had taken such a hold upon him that he was unable to throw it off and it finally ran into an affection of the heart. Everything that medical skill and human ingenuity could think of was done, but to no avail, and he was gathered to his fathers.

The deceased was a kind and loving husband and father; an honest and hard-working man and neighbor and a citizen that could always be depended upon in time of trouble. He had made Hull his home for many years.

He leaves an aged widow, one son, one brother and four sisters--and a host of friends--to mourn his departure, but the most of them do not mourn as they that have no hope.

The funeral was held in the opera house, Wednesday afternoon, at two o'clock, Rev. S. L. Chandler, of Morningside, officiating--the services being touching, commemorative and upholding--and the remains laid away in Hope Cemetery with the beautiful rites of the I.O.O.F. society, in the presence of many friends. The sorrowing family and relatives are assured the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.

OBITUARY.

William Barza Rombough was born in Lee Center, New York, on the 8th of March, 1852. When seven years of age, he moved with his parents to Napanee, Canada, where he lived 3 years, and then returned to the states, Shortly after this last move his father enlisted for service in the war of the rebellion, and being the eldest child in the family the greatest burden of the support of the family fell upon his young shoulders.

In 1870 he came with his parents to Iowa and settled in Linn county. In a short time he went to live in Missouri, where, on the 5th day of April, 1874, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary E. Malcombe. To this union one son, Harry M. was born and who was with him at the end. In 1879 he moved to Sioux county, living in Hull and vicinity ever since. In his early life he followed the occupation of a farmer, but for the last twenty years has worked as a mason.

(The Card of Thanks that follows is signed by Mrs. W. B. Rombough, Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Rombough, Mrs. Mary Carver, and Mrs. Kate Ruthven.)

(A brief news note in the same issue of the Index says that Mrs. Carver returned to her home in Spencer after a week's visit at the home of her brother, Wm. Rombough.)
