William Peter Fick, 82, of Rock Rapids died Saturday, January 15, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, following a brief illness.

Services were held at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 18, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids with the Reverend William E. Postel officiating. Burial was in St. John Cemetery, rural Boyden. A prayer service was held 8 P.M. Monday, January 17, at the Roste Funeral Home in Rock Rapids.

Mr. Fick was born November 9, 1911, at Olivet, South Dakota, the son of Peter and Dorathea (Winter) Fick. He was baptized in Olivet. As a child, he moved with his family to Rock County, Minnesota, where he grew up and attended school. He was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota. On February 20, 1935, he married Metta Foege at Boyden. The couple farmed in the Hull area for 40 years. They retired in 1975 and moved to Rock Rapids.

Mr. Fick was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids the last 22 years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Werner Fick of Mankato, Minnesota; two daughters, LaVonne Heetland and her husband, Stephen, of Frankfurt Germany, and Mardella Grade and her husband, Douglas of Pueblo, Colorado; nine grandchildren, John and Nathan Fick, Jesse, Erik, and Elizabeth Heetland, Scott, Larry, Brian and Andrew Grade; and three brothers, Fritz, Paul and Herbert Fick, all of Luverne, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Louis, Albert, and Arthur.
