From the Rock Valley Bee, January 7, 1921:

N. S. HANDY DEAD

N. S. Handy, a former resident of Rock Valley, died at his home in Rock Rapids Sunday night [January 2]. He had not been well for several years, and his death was not unexpected. He had sought medical aid wherever possible, but was always advised that there was no cure for him, and that it was only a question of time for the disease to run its course. Sunday he was seized with an attack of hemorage[sic] of the brain which was the immediate cause of his death.

The Handy family moved away from Rock Valley about ten years ago and since that time have lived in Rock Rapids. Mr. Handy was well known in this vicinity, having spent the greater part of his life here.

He is survived by his wife and three grown-up daughters, one brother, and three sisters and his aged mother. One of his daughters, Mrs. E. Cogswell, lives in Rock Valley.

Funeral services were held at Rock Rapids Wednesday afternoon.

A lengthy obituary is posted in Lyon County GenWeb Obituaries. It says he moved to Rock Rapids 45 years ago, at age 13, and that it has been his home ever since; it does not mention him having been a resident of Rock Valley.
