Mrs. Gerrit Fikse Dies at Her Home In Orange City

Mrs. Gerrit Fikse, nee Tonia Kots, passed away Saturday morning at 9:30 at her home in Orange City. She was born February 17, 1872 at Aalten, Gelderland, the Netherlands, and came to the America with her parents, Gerrit Kots and Hendrika (Hane) Kots at the age of 12. The family arrived at Orange City, at the home of A. J. Pennings, acquaintances from the Netherlands.

The family lived on the Pennings yard for some years until they moved to Maurice. She was married to John Marcus 47 years ago. His death occurred 11 years later. Gerrit Fikse, whom she married later, died 8 years ago. There are no children.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Gt. Te Grotenhuis and Mrs. Arie Punt of Orange City, and also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home and at the Trinity Reformed Church with Reverend C. Boonstra officiating. Interment was made in the Orange City Cemetery.
