Jerold Dykstra, age 86, of Sheldon, Iowa, formerly of Akron, Iowa, passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon.

Memorial Services will be Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. Rev. Luke Wynja officiating.

Graveside Services will be Tuesday, September 27, at 10:00 A.M. at East Lawn Cemetery in Sheldon.

Visitation will be Monday, September 26, from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. with the family present from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home Sheldon Funeral Service in Sheldon.

Jerold James Dykstra was born on June 16, 1930 in Ocheyedan, Iowa. He was the son of Bert and Winnie (Grassmid) Dykstra. He lived his youth around Sheldon, Iowa where he attended Sheldon Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School. The family moved to the Harris, Iowa area and Jerold graduated from Harris High School. He attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa and Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business. Jerold served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
He was united in marriage to Marjorie Kreykes of Sheldon, Iowa on August 17, 1959 at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon. They lived in Akron, Iowa for 53 years where Jerold was the Administrator of the Akron Hospital and Nursing Home for 47 years. In 2014, they moved to the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon.
He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheldon.
Jerold liked watching sports and flying airplanes. He enjoyed his work and that was his hobby.
He passed away on Friday, September 23, 2016 at his home at the Christian Retirement Home in Sheldon.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Dykstra of Sheldon, Iowa; relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
