Mother Dies
A resident of Lyon County for 32 years Mrs. Frietsen Baron died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Peter Vander Woude, three miles northwest of Doon, on Monday Dec 17th at about 8 o’clock, from heart trouble and old age. Born at Dragther, Friesland Netherlands on January 10, 1847, she attained the age of 79 years and 11 months and 7 days. Forty six years ago she came to America, arriving at Orange City where she lived two years. Moving from there to Douglas county SD, she resided at that place for twelve years. In the year 1896 she came to Lyon County where she has since resided. Her husband died 21 years ago at the age of 64 years. At that time they lived on a farm five miles east of Doon. Five children two sons and three daughters are left to mourn her demise. They are Mrs. Simon Vander Schaaf of Sioux Center; Henry Baron of Armour SD, Mrs. Peter Vander Woude and Simon Baron of Doon, and Mrs. Kleinwolterink of Sheldon.

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon Dec. 21st from the Chr. Ref. church at Doon, Rev. Bajema of Sheldon conducting the services. Interment was made in the family lot in the cemetery at Hull, Iowa. (from the Doon Press)
