Services held Wednesday for Richard Barnes.
Funeral services were held yesterday, October 27, at the United Presbyterian church in Alton Iowa at 1:30 p.m. for Richard ‘Dick’ Barnes, 38 who passed away October 24 at the Orange City hospital after being ill with enphsemia(?) for 8 years.

The Rev. John Maze pastor of the United Presbyterian church officiated with burial being made in the Nassau Township cemetery under the direction of the Van Etten Funeral home.

Mr. Barnes was born on My 21, 1927 at Corning New York and came to Alton in 1949. He entered the service from 1942-1945. He is the son of K. G. Barnes and Mrs. Harold Langendorfer. On September 6, 1944 he married Lois Douma. Two sons were born to this union. He was a member of the United Presbyterian church and a veteran of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife; two sons Craig and Mark; his mother, Mrs. Eve Langendorf; his father K. G. Barnes and his grandmother Mrs. May Barnes. His parents were on their way to visit him but he passed away two hours before their arrival.
