Charles H. Escher died at Sacred Heart Hospital, Le Mars, Saturday, March 7, as a result of complications of a fractured hip, January 17.

He was born on a farm near Richard, Iowa, March 22, 1861. At the age of 11 years he moved, with his parents, to Tennessee, remaining there until 1888 when he returned to Rock Valley, later moving to Adrian, Minnesota, on a farm where he remained until the death of his father in 1913. He then returned to Rock Valley, where he resided until death.

He leaves to mourn his death, three brothers, Frank of Montrose, South Dakota; and John of Sedan, Minnesota; and William of Mitchell, South Dakota; three sisters, Sister M. Damian of Convent of Mercy, Chicago; Mrs. G.J. Zettler, of Sioux Falls; and Julia M. Escher of Washington, D.C. and seven nephews and nieces, and fifty-four grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Church in Rock Valley Wednesday morning, with Reverend Foerster officiating.
